We are excited to announce that in parallel with the world-wide Open, we will be hosting an intramural competition within our community. We want each of our athletes to participate in the thrill of the Open whether, they officially sign-up for the Open or not. If you have never signed up for the official Open, it is a great experience to see how your fitness stacks up against other individuals across multiple demographics.
What is the CrossFit Open?
The Open is comprised of five workouts over five weeks, and it starts with 20.1. Open workouts are identified by their year and the order in which they appear. The workouts will be released every Thursday during the five weeks of the Open, and you can watch the live announcement of the workout that will be streamed across various outlets.
While the purpose of the Open is to find the fittest athletes in the world, it’s also an opportunity for any athlete at any level to participate in the competition. It can add meaning and purpose to your training while also bringing our community closer together. (As a rule of thumb, the Open is the time of year where we see many people achieve important firsts: bodyweight snatch, muscle-ups, toes-to-bars, handstand push-ups, double-unders, etc.) That’s the Open Magic!
Open Schedule at FCCF
Normal class programming and times. Following the Open workout announcement at 8:00 PM EST, nominees from each team in our gym will be throwing down in a head-to-head competition of the freshly released Open workout.
On Friday’s, we hit the workout. Daily programming will be the Open workout for everyone and remember there is always a scaled version of the workout available. Class times are standard, except for no 5:30 PM. This is not a dry run—we’re going to hit it hard. That’s the mindset you should have: one and done.
Friday’s excitement will accumulate for Friday Night Lights, where we will gather in the evening and start heats at 5:00 PM. There will not be a normal 5:30 PM class time. Come celebrate the Open and cheer on each other as they tackle the workout.
Saturday’s will be our skills refinement day, followed by some lower-impact fitness. There will be a lighter workout programmed, designed to preserve capacity without breaking the body down. There will be limited opportunities on Saturday to complete the Open workout if you missed it on Friday. Check our Facebook VIP group for more info.
There will be limited opportunities on Sunday to complete the Open workout. Stay tuned to the Facebook VIP group for weekly updates regarding Sunday schedule.
